Chicken Soup For The Soul: Look Out, Baby, I'm Your Love Man

This is one of the inspiring true stories I am currently reading from the motivationally moving best seller, that in Jack Canfield's and Mark Victor Hansen's Chicken Soup for the Soul

Look Out, Baby, I'm Your Love Man

It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared. - Whitney Young, Jr.

Les Brown and his twin brother were adopted by Mamie Brown, a kitchen worker and maid, shortly after their birth in a poverty-stricken Miami neighborhood.

Because of his hyperactivity and nonstop jabber, Les was placed in special education classes for the learning disabled in grade school and throughout high school. Upon graduation, he became a city sanitation worker in Miami Beach. But he had a dream of being a disc jockey.

At night he would take a transistor radio to bed where he listened to the local jive-talking deejays. He created an imaginary radio station in his tiny room with its torn vinyl flooring. A hairbrush served as his microphone as he practiced his patter, introducing records to his ghost listeners.

His mother and brother could hear him through the thin walls and would shout at him to quit flapping his jaws and go to sleep. But Les didn't listen to them. He was wrapped up in his own world, living a dream.

One day Les boldly went to the local radio station during his lunch break from mowing grass for the city. He got into the station manager's office and told him he wanted to be a disc jockey.

The manager eyed this disheveled young man in overalls and a straw hat and inquired, "Do you have any background in broadcasting?"

Les replied, "No, sir, I don't."

"Well, son, I'm afraid we don't have a job for you then."

Les thanked him politely and left. The station manager assumed that he had seen the last of this young man. But he underestimated the depth of Les Brown's commitment to his goal. You see, Les had a higher purpose than simply wanting to be a disc jockey. He wanted to buy a nicer house for his adoptive mother, whom he loved deeply. The disc jockey job was merely a step toward his goal.

Mamie Brown had taught Les to pursue his dreams, so he felt sure that he would get a job at that radio station in spite of what the station manager had said.

And so Les returned to the station every day for a week, asking if there were any job openings. Finally the station manager gave in and took him on as an errand boy—at no pay. At first, he fetched coffee or picked up lunches and dinner for the deejays who could not leave the studio. Eventually his enthusiasm for their work won him the confidence of the disc jockeys who would send him in their Cadillacs to pick up visiting celebrities such as the Temptations and Diana Ross and the Supremes. Little did any of them know that young Les did not have a driver's license.

Les did whatever was asked of him at the station—and more. While hanging out with the deejays, he taught himself their hand movements on the control panel. He stayed in the control rooms and soaked up whatever he could until they asked him to leave. Then, back in his bedroom at night, he practiced and prepared himself for the opportunity that he knew would present itself.

One Saturday afternoon while Les was at the station, a deejay named Rock was drinking while on the air. Les was the only other person in the building, and he realized that Rock was drinking himself toward trouble. Les stayed close. He walked back and forth in front of the window in Rock's booth. As he prowled, he said to himself. "Drink, Rock, drink!"

Les was hungry, and he was ready. He would have run down the street for more booze if Rock had asked. When the phone rang, Les pounced on it. It was that station manager, as he knew it would be.

"Les, this is Mr. Klein." '

"Yes," said Les. "I know."

"Les, I don't think Rock can finish his program."

"Yes sir, I know."

"Would you call one of the other deejays to come in and take over?"

"Yes, sir. I sure will."

But when Les hung up the telephone, he said to himself, "Now, he must think I'm crazy."

Les did dial the telephone, but it wasn't to call in another deejay. He called his mother first, and then his girlfriend. "You all go out on the front porch and turn up the radio because I'm about to come on the air!" he said.

He waited about 15 minutes before he called the general manager. "Mr. Klein, I can't find nobody," Les said.

Mr. Klein then asked, "Young man, do you know how to work the controls in the studio?"

"Yes sir," replied Les.

Les darted into the booth, gently moved Rock aside and sat down at the turntable. He was ready. And he was hungry. He flipped on the microphone switch and said,

"Look out! This is me, LB, triple P—Les Brown, Your Platter Playing Poppa. There were none before me and there will be none after me. Therefore, that makes me the one and only. Young and single and love to mingle. Certified, bona fide, indubitably qualified to bring you satisfaction, a whole lot of action. Look out, baby, I'm your lo-o-ove man!"

Because of his preparation, Les was ready. He wowed the audience and his general manager. From that fateful beginning, Les went on to a successful career in broadcasting, politics, public speaking and television. - Jack Canfield

Why I Don't Wanna Be Broke And Lazy

I enjoy taking a break from my work life story so not to get too attached to the role that I play. It’s in those days that I remind myself that I am not my current salary grade. What I mean by that is that the company pays me what I believe I am worth. And since I believe that I am worth that, the company willingly pays what I believe my worth is to the company.

Ok so after a while, thanks to how the value of things seems to increase by the year, my ability to afford things becomes expensive, especially in comparison to what I earn at work. So it’s from that realisation that I think, “Hey! I should get paid more since the price of living is getting too expensive for me.” You then hang around more and more people who agree with your point of view and instead of walking up to your manager to ask for a pay raise, we form a union organisation and go on a strike demanding we get paid what we are worth.

The company turns around and says, “But you told us you were worth what we pay you.” To which we answer, “No that was a long time ago and things have changed. Pay we me what I am worth to you today.”

Maybe those aren’t the exact words we use but in essence I believe that is what we are communicating to the source of our income. This gets tricky because no matter what the company gives you, you will feel that it not enough. In truth, it will never be enough because you are worth more than your take home salary. This is something you know internally but you would get by with what you have, just like your parents did, until things get too much, leading up to you possibly going on strike again. With the possible idea of working towards adding a self sustaining income generating passive source of income, that makes money for you whether you are there or not – even in your sleep.

Just imagine having more than one source of income...what about an additional 10 sources of income producing R100 or R500 each? How about 100 of those sources of income....10, 000...? Ten thousand of those multiple streams of income would make you a MILLIONAIRE...

But that’s not the kind of conversations one would have during lunch with the other colleagues now is it? We would rather gossip, or talk about how unfair the workload is or where we are going to drink up this month’s pay.

All the while telling ourselves & others that things will be better, we just need to go apply for better positions and hope that we make it.

I’m just saying, wouldn’t it better to speak about ways to serve the public in effortless ways, i.e. going into real estate, stock trading, writing a book(s), opening a chain of restaurants, franchising, applying for tenders, registering a company that you would hire professionals to manage while you are at work, going to seminars or workshops that deal with doing the things that you love and getting PAID for it?

No, not with the guys I work with. Thinking like that is crazy talk because the fear, doubt and anxiety kicks in. Projecting as many excuses that would keep them where they are until the thought of progressing in life becomes too overwhelming that they push away the thought of leaving their comfort zones so to earn a fortune instead of making a living. This becomes too frightening to them.

"How You Feel About Everything Is What You Are Living" - Abraham

So they stick with what works and master the skill of beating traffic while the minority, like myself, look and study ways of living better than I currently am. That does not make me think I am better than them, actually I am grateful for what the do and act because I can use that as a measuring stick of why I don’t what to become...broke and lazy.

The Emotion Of TRUE Desire

Why would I want something, I ask myself, while holding on to emotions of its absence? The answer to question can to me in the form of: maybe it’s something I learnt that as a kid. Something I carried with me to my adulthood. When I wanted something, realising I didn’t have it at that moment, I, usually, cried for it until I got it.

So maybe I learnt as a child that desire is that feeling of lack. And if I feel that feeling of lack long enough, maybe even complaining about it, and hanging with other people who complained about not having it, so not to feel left out maybe, one day someone would give it to me.

For me, the problem I had with that is that there comes a point where, as I am complaining, I feel like I am struggling to get what I want. I am certain you too were sold this idea of “having to struggle for what you want in order for you to get it.”

Well, for me I didn’t much like the feelings of sadness, despair & frustration, to name a FEW, that came with the chosen act of what I would call negative desire. I mean surely there is an easier way of succeeding?

And there was...

There was a lady I used to work with, at Alberton which is a suburb south of Johannesburg, inland, now she works in a better job position, with the obvious pay raise that comes with it, with an office facing the ocean. And all she did was have a journal with her where she writes out what she wanted in life, but instead of feeling resentment for now having what she wanted at that moment, she focused on the feelings she would have once she received what she wanted, and feelings THOSE “future feelings,” if you way, in the now.

She was feeling the feelings she would feel, in the now, once she received the thing she was wanting.

And so being in that positive feeling place she knew that things where turning to her favour, through faith – it happens, this faith, when one repeats to the mind an idea over and over and over again until the mind sees it as fact, which led to her coming across a job ad that was exactly what she wanted, which she applied for. This led to an interview, which she waltz through, & now she has the job, the money, and the work environment she desired. I mean REALLY desired, I am not talking about the feeling of lack you might call desire. I am referring to true desire.

Feeling Good As You Desire.

So let’s recap, she continuously wrote down what she wanted, cultivating the feeling of having already received it. Then ways of getting closer to what she desired revealed themselves, and all she did was act on them - keeping in mind to not jinx the momentum by doubting whether she will ever getting the thing she wanted because, with faith, says KNOWS she will receive her desire, and now she is living a working life she literally designed by intent.

I find this way of receiving way better than “struggling just like everybody else” in getting the things we want in our lives.

And apparently she got the inspiration of this manifesting technique from reading a Dr. Joe Vitale book Spiritual Marketing: A Proven 5-Step Formula for Easily Creating Wealth from the Inside Out.

Vitale, it seems, writes a lot, and I do mean A LOT, about things that have to do with manifesting the things we want & what & how we could do away with the things that block us from getting them. With a history from starting from nothing to the undisputed success he is today, he is worth checking out.

How You Feel Attracts What You Experience, Whether Wanted Or Not...

Lighten up. Have fun with it!

Challenge no one about anything. If somebody is screaming in your face that you're wrong, say to them, "You're probably right"...

If somebody says, the world is coming to an end, say to them "Maybe, but aren't we having a good time, today?"...

If somebody says, "There is a disease running rampant and it's going to sweep across the Earth and it's going to kill all of us", say, "I don't believe that is possible - because I know that Well being abounds...

I don't believe that anything that is bad could over take over all this that is good. It is illogical... Well-Being abounds...

Oh, I think there are pockets where people have focused and caused a sort of shadow that is disallowing the Well-Being. I don't disagree with you there. I think there are places where Well-Being is not being allowed - but I think it is minuscule in comparison with the Well-Being."

The Law of Attraction & Resistance

I’m an inquisitive guy who doesn’t mind doing research on things I want to know of & thanks to the Internet, Google in particular, searching for stuff on the net is like a past time of mine.

Have you noticed how when you Google something and the results pop up, all 100,000 plus of them, critical analysis of them could eventually make you an expert , self proclaimed of course, of, let’s say, The Law of Attraction for example.

The Law of Attraction says: “That which is like unto itself is drawn.”

There’s a more extended explanation to the above but in short it means whatever you think about you attract to yourself, good or bad.

If you add emotion (feelings like love, happiness, joy, laughter, etc or fear, hatred, revenge, anger, etc for example) to whatever it is you are thinking about, it makes happen even faster. The pull towards you gets accelerated.

So would now you would understand why for me the saying “You can achieve whatever you want to achieve” would be linked to this undisputed Law of Attraction.

Maybe I’m delusional into thinking, excuse the pun, such a “Law of Attraction” could exist, but if you are still reading come play along with me for a while longer and through in the kryptonite to my theory that in “what about all the things that I want in life, things i think about, think about a lot, that haven’t come in to me?”

If what I say is true then everything that I think about should come true, but it hasn’t, what say you about that?

Simple: You are doing something that is not allowing in. You are resisting it.

All negative feeling thoughts, which in turns lead us speaking words that align with them, act as a resistance to the things that we want.

The “negative vibes” get in the way of allow the good things into our lives just like a fallen tree would resist out the water down streaming to the ocean you are on the receiving end.

Through our emotions, thoughts, words, actions (what I would like to call our vibrational state) we continue to emit energy vibrations at a consistent, no pause button, rate – since we are made up, on a microscopic & scientific level, atoms.

Atoms that contain, within them, energy.

And all that this non physical, spiritual, thing we call energy does is vibrate.

Thus we humans, as vibrational being, consistently vibrate in alignment to the feeling emotions we think about on the regular.

They weren’t BSing you when they said “The Mind Is A Power Thing.”

Because with this mind of ours when can manipulate the vibration state that we are in.

And when we vibrate in a state that is in a vibrational state of the thing we want to be, do or have (that is, practising the act of Acting As If you already are the person you want to be, or doing the things you want to do, or have the thing you want to have even if it’s not there) the Law of Attraction attracts it to us, it is law.

On the subject of money, since i know that’s one of the things you might be wanting to attract, download a free ebook from a guy who is living proof that the Law exists, Dr. Joe Vitale, Attract Money Now!

Even though you don’t realise it yet, You Are In Control Of What Happens Next – with our without “God”. And by the way, that energy I spoke about earlier, that is in all the living and non-living things that exist in this world is what religion calls God. So either way, atheist or not, there is a power that can be manipulated into moulding life as we know it today... (...yesterday & tomorrow), through an emotion-of-receiving prayer or repetitive feeling thought suggestions to the mind.

Same things different terms.

What if, just like me, you want to use this to your advantage but due to life experiences you are dead to feelings? Then you will come to realise that things incomplete technique of attracting what you want can eventually be the resistance, like the fallen tree analogy, that makes success come to you in drips and drabs to your frustration.

And frustration being an emotion that feeling good to you only cements the non-receiving good things attractor you are. Actually in that state, all that you will be receiving would be the closest physical equivalent of your negative, non-good feelings place of frustration you might be in.

What I would like to call the “hell” experience.

This blog is not meant for everyone, otherwise everyone would be living the life they want – experiencing the health they want, the loving relationships they want and all the money they want to receive – expect thinking that one has to struggle or do something illegal or even satanic (oh my God!!) to get the “good life.”

So the Realising of Resistance Process I am going to offer you here would then only be for those of us if want to do whatever it takes, with regards to the above, legally to live a better way of life.

Ever heard yourself say, surely There Has To Be A Better Way Than This???

Well there is, but it has to be dealt with at the heart of the matter. A spiritual suggested resolution of realising that which IS spirit in its core and had just turned up in the physical so that we can interpret it with our commonly used senses.

Ladies and Gents I introduce you to the person that can improve your life more than anyone else in this world, your Self.
