Turning your mind away from physical (or emotional) pain allows your body to naturally heal itself, without the interference of your mind.
Your mind (your thinking) interferes with your body's ability to heal itself.
That is why meditation works so well when combined with your doctor's prescription.
When you verbally state that you want to get better, all the while feeling awful, your feelings, most of the time, overwrite your words.
Keeping you in an awful feeling state.
You need to literally take your mind off of your pains in order for your body to do what it was designed to do: heal itself.
That is why daily meditation (in ANY form) is important.
